Climeworks operates the world's most advanced direct air capture facility, using modular collector units that draw ambient air through proprietary amine-based sorbent filters. The captured CO₂ is concentrated, transported, and permanently stored via mineral carbonation in basaltic rock formations. This is the highest-permanence carbon removal method available — mineralised CO₂ cannot re-enter the atmosphere under any natural scenario.

The premium price reflects the current cost of this technology, which is expected to decrease significantly with scale. Climeworks has pre-purchase agreements with Microsoft, Stripe, and Swiss Re, making these credits among the most credible in the market.
